2025 - like the good ol' days!

Just for fun, we decided to enter some ploughing competitions in hopes of garnering the 100 points required to enter next year’s International Ploughing Match in Walkerton. It’s always great to compete on home turf! And we did it! Princess and Ellie had never pulled a plough before, and they were outstanding. Very proud of our girls!

Come and see Princess, Ellie and Rosie, our beautiful Percherons, at the Port Elgin Shoppers’ Night on November 21st and in Southampton on Friday evenings from 4:30 until 8:30 where the BIA is sponsoring free wagon rides on November 28, December 12 and December 19th. You can can also see us in the Southampton Santa Claus Parade on December 5th, too.

The foals arrived right on time!

Millie arrived in mid March and is a frisky, friendly little filly, just like her Mama, Princess.

Just look at those pretty eyes and fluffy ears! Rosie’s in the background looking in to see exactly what’s coming up for her!

March, 2024 The Foals are due - soooooon!!!

It’s snowing, it’s not snowing, it’s raining, it’s warm and sunny - what the heck is going on? All we know is that Rosie is due on the first day of Spring and Princess sometime thereafter. It’s all very exciting and we can’t wait to see them! Stay tuned for updates and photos,

Well, winter’s finally arrived at JnL Percherons and we’re looking forward to being in Southampton on Saturday the 17th for wagon rides with Rosie and Princess. It’s always fun to do winter rides and this is a Valentine’s event and people can connect direct with the Southampton BIA for details at coordinator@southamptonbia.com

This will likely be one of our last outings with the girls as they’re both expecting foals in March and it’s been a long wait! Did you know that horses are pregnant for 11 months and that a newborn is about 250 pounds? It’s a treat to see the babies - they’re all legs - and we’ll get them used to a halter pretty quick but they won’t start training with drawing a wagon or being paired up with another horse until they’re about a year and a half old, so they’ll have lots of time to play and get big and strong. They’ll enjoy our two other horses, Lindie and Ellie, who’ve just recently started training with Princess - she’s so patient with them and will teach them how to draw a wagon and step up nicely.
